But it is hard to put up with this kind of a verdict. And, of course, you have a way out. What you need to do is to work hard on repairing your credit score.
You can find a lot of information in the Web on how to boost your credit rating. However, you should not believe blindfolded in all that you read or hear. Improving credit score is not an easy matter, and you can get trapped with numerous myths about the simplicity of this, actually, time and effort-taking process. So, for you not to end up with a ruined credit history, having followed those bum steers, I will try to bust credit repair myths.
Myth#1: Repairing Credit Is a Piece of Cake
Credit score importance is the talk of the town. A damaged credit is not easy to restore. No matter what you are told, do not believe that you can repair your credit within a few days without sparing any efforts. Remember, tomorrow come never. If your credit leaves much to be desired, start improving it right away. It will get better, but gradually.
Myth#2: Credit Report Costs a Pretty Penny
Another myth about your credit report is that you will spend a fortune buying it from credit bureaus. Credit reporting agencies actually charge for this kind of service, but the price you are to pay for your report is quite reasonable. Moreover, the 3 major credit bureaus grant you a copy of your credit report at no cost once a year. So, you can check your report at least 3 times a year free of charge.
Myth#3: Credit Repair Company or My Attorney Will Do It for Me
Some card owners suppose that a credit repair company or their attorney can fix all their problems with credit score. Of course, they can help you to sort out some unclear points, or give you a piece of advice concerning the strategy how to repair your credit. But it is you who should solve your problems. And no one but you can do it better.
Myth#4: Filing for bankruptcy means starting afresh.
Bankruptcy is far not the best way to recover your credit card report. If you are in dire straits and deeply indebted, filing for bankruptcy will help you to play for time and spare you from the obligation to pay off all your debts in the shortest possible time. But bankruptcy will leave a huge stain in your credit report and will damage your credit history. It will have a dramatic effect on your reputation as a reliable borrower and you will barely be able to qualify for some considerable loans in the nearest future. So, treat filing for bankruptcy as your last resort.
Myth#5: Credit Report Is Unfailing
It is common practice for the majority of credit card holders to believe that their credit reports are 100% reliable and is not prone to be changed for no reason. That is so not true. If you do not check your credit report repeatedly, one fine day you will just get turned down by a credit card company you wanted to make a credit card deal with. And when you ask your might-have-been creditor to explain the reason for the rejection, they will answer you: "We are very sorry, but you cannot get approved for our excellent credit card with a credit score below average".
Any slightest inaccuracies in your credit report can affect your credit score and your credit history. So, buy your reports regularly from 3 major credit bureaus in order to keep your credit records under control. In case you notice any errors, contact credit reporting agencies and ask them to eliminate the mistakes.
So, these are the most widespread myths about credit repair. Just remember, improving your credit score is a challenge. But if you are reasonable, persistent, and resolute in reaching your goals, you will succeed for sure.
