Compare Reward Credit Cards: Frequently Asked Questions
With the ever increasing popularity of reward programs attached to credit card deals, more and more consumers have been looking at the possibility of replacing their good credit card deal with a great credit card deal. And nowadays, all of the best credit card deals in the public eyes are ones that come with lucrative reward programs.
But not all reward program credit cards are created equal. Some are truly of a higher quality than others and there are some that are of such a low quality that it makes you wonder what kind of a person would sign up for it!
The rewards program structure has taken the credit card world by storm so that now, years after reward credit cards have become common in the market, people still have many questions about them.
Below are a few questions that people usually have about reward credit cards as well as the answers to those questions.
Q: Are Reward Cards Really Beneficial to Me?
A: Depending on your situation, they very well may be. Reward cards tend to be advantageous for people that make all of their payments on time and rarely accrue interest fees. For people that have problems with paying off their balances in full, it could end up that a reward card really won't help, since the interest money owed would end up at the very least canceling out any benefit from the rewards program and at the very most could possibly completely overshadow any potential benefits from the rewards program.
The best way to find this out is to analyze your spending habits and in particular look at all of your other credit card deals. Do you pay off the balances in full before the grace period ends? Do you have trouble doing so and as a result frequently accrue interest? Once you know your general spending habits in relation to your credit cards, then you'll be in a better position to understand how beneficial a rewards card might be for you.
Q: Can I add a rewards program to my current credit card?
A: This depends on the credit card that you have and maybe even on the fine print of the credit card deal that you signed. Most new credit card deals include provisions for adding rewards programs to the card (usually in exchange for an annual fee charged by the credit card company) but if you've had your credit card for a very long time, you might not be eligible to get a rewards program for it.
The best thing to do if you are unsure about what your current options are is to call your credit card company and ask them directly. Do not commit to anything over the phone (and believe me they will try to get you to do so), but just jot down all the information for your benefit. Once you know what you're eligible for with your current credit card deals, you'll know if you want to keep them or change them.
Q: Can anyone get a rewards program?
A: Like with most things relating to credit card deals, good credit and bad credit, the answer is it depends. This is something that goes deeper than whether or not a person has an excellent credit rating or a bad one. Whether or not a lender (i.e. the credit card company) is willing to issue you a rewards program credit card depends on the specifics of your credit report and whether or not they feel they can trust you.
There are credit cards for bad credit and even rewards credit cards for bad credit, but that doesn't mean that a specific person with a poor credit history is automatically going to qualify for them. And even if they do, you can be very sure that the interest rates and fees are going to be very high; much higher than they would be for a normal bad credit card deals.
Q: Where can I find more information about these credit cards?
A: If you're looking for information, there are about a million places to find it. You can read the sales letters that get send to your house every month by different companies trying to get your business. You can call a company up directly and ask them (and be sure to resist their selling, because from the moment you are on the phone with them they are trying to hard sell you credit card deals).
Or if you're just curious and browsing, the better thing to do is to check their website. The website will list the basics of all of the rewards cards they have and once you have a narrowed down list with questions to ask for each credit card you're interested in, then you can call in and speak to them directly.
Whatever method you choose, there are many avenues you can pursue to find out more information on all the credit card deals available.

The subject of credit card use by young adults is much talked about online and offline, in magazine and internet articles. There are supporters and opponents of issuing plastics to young people among credit consumers and financial experts. However, many of those hair-raising tales about graduates that collect enormous debts are just boogieman stories. The statistics shows that young people became more reasonable in credit card management and most of them do not have loads of debts.
A recent opinion poll conducted among college students revealed that 92% of young adults realize that damage credit history and low credit score could have a negative effect on their future financial standing and cause problems with qualifying for loans.
