Several major US credit card companies have changed their rewards cards related policy. American Express has recently announced a cancellation of double rewards points bonus that came as one of the features of Membership Rewards Program. This bonus attracted many credit card holders. This perk doubled card owner's rewards on everyday purchases like groceries, gasoline, and drug store merchandise. This change disappointed rewards card users. However, AmEx was not the only one to upset its clients.

Citibank has also imposed some restrictions on one of their rewards credit cards terms. Owners of a Citi Dividend Card are about to lose a part of their cash back bonus. Last year the cash back bonus that came with the card's rewards program made up 5%. This month the cash rebate will be reduced to 2%.

Though the year began with not really good news for credit consumers with rewards cards, but it is not time to ring the alarm yet. Rewards credit cards still remain one of the most popular credit products with plastic users. Rewards programs keep giving benefits to card holders.

For instance, one of the Capital One Bank credit cards, No Hassle Cash SM Rewards, gives you a 25% annual cash back bonus on the money you have spent during the year. Blue Cash SM from American Express enables you to earn up to 5% cash back and gives you unlimited cash rewards.

Though some of rewards programs have undergo some changes, credit card companies are still doing their best not only to attract, but also to please their clients.

Now it is hard to tell whether this trend of modifying rewards programs will spread onto other credit card issuers. But the situation on the credit card market is constantly changing. And due to the fact that the competition between credit card companies is really keen, you should not expect some serious unfavorable changes.

American Express, Citibank, Discover, and Chase Bank credit cards stay the most asked-for rewards credit cards issuers. With their cards you can get the most of rewards programs and save on gas, groceries, hotel stays, flights, clothes, and much more.

All you need to do to get the best credit card with a rewards program that will perfectly fit your demands, incomes, and lifestyle is devote some time to the choice of the right plastic for you. No matter what rewards card you want to have - a frequent flyer card, a hotel rewards credit card, a gasoline credit card or any other - look through the rewards deals, carefully read terms and conditions and apply for the card that suits you the most.

You are the architect of your own fortunes and no one but you knows better what credit card will be the best choice for you. But if you are a lucky owner of a good or excellent credit score, apply for a credit card with rewards. You just cannot lose.
